In my family there is rarely a moment when I say, “oh I wish I had my camera.” Shouldn’t everyone have that? I strive to capture moments…of a newborn, a family, siblings, or a couple just starting their adventure. I’m very lucky that I get to live my life in the giant playground of my two passions – photography and writing. I’m drawn to the story.
For me, photography is capturing the sweet moments that too often pass us by. Whether it be the long eyelashes on a newborn baby, or the sticky fingers of a toddler. A quiet glance between a bride and groom, or a shared laugh between parents. I love to get very involved with my clients, so we’re on the same team, striving to tell the same story – and deliver images that will be cherished for years to come.
Amulree was the name of my Grandmother’s first house where she lived with my Dad back in Scotland. When I asked her about it once, she said it was a “tight bond.” I’m not sure if she was referring to her and my father or the house – but the two are synonymous to me. I love it. A tight bond.
I have two wonderful children who have spent an embarrassing amount of time smiling into my lens, and I thank them immensely. They have test drove all my props, my backdrops – new ideas, and new locations. And of course my husband – whose had to look at about a billion photos and tell me I’m brilliant – hold reflectors, lights, stands – and who spends every vacation hauling around 30 pounds of camera gear…thank you.
